HOW DAVID FOUND NAMUNYAK IN AN UNLIKELY PLACE:
Our Maasai warrior and Simba Scouts Co-ordinator, David Kanai shares his experience:
“I was tracking Namunyak for three days unsuccessfully seeing her within the conservancy. I went out and asked the herders if they’ve seen her or any female during that time and luckily I got information from Campi ya kanzi trackers that she was seen two days ago at the top of a tree. After several days, I went to the same areas where they spotted her and I found her nestled in the top of the tree. I thought it was interesting to see her in a tree, although it was during dry season and she must have climbed up there to cool herself down. This was the first time I’ve ever seen any lion within KGR that has ever been found laying in a tree, it was such a great memory for me!”
